Tips for Listers During Coronavirus – Making it Simpler

  • Have your agent post COVID safety instructions. Upon entry, it is important that all potential buyers know that we value their health. That is why each agent is equipped with a professional, Lindsey-branded safety guide to place at your front door.
  • Provide hand sanitizer at entry. Our agents have been given a bottle to keep on their person, but it is a good idea to leave some near the entrance of your home as well. You may also want to include a sign encouraging them its use.
  • When listing, think neat, clean, and bright. Simple is best. When preparing your home for show, make sure to de-clutter as much as possible and wipe down all surfaces. Opening the blinds and/or curtains will brighten up a room and help the viewer to see all aspects.
  • Declutter! As mentioned before, decluttering is a must. Find a place out of sight to store unnecessary items. A good place to keep them during an open house or showing is in a car.
  • Perspective – Look at everything through new eyes. Visualize what someone coming in for the first time would see. The placement of furniture, lamps, and other items may be most comfortable for you, but does it help a viewer see the space for all of it’s potential?
  • Curb appeal! Take a glance over your exterior. Could your landscaping use a little foliage or maybe a little less? Could your entrance or windows use a power wash? A fresh coat of paint on the front door and a new mat could go a long way!
  • Does it smell inviting and clean? . A candle or air freshener always ads a little extra welcome into a home. Just be sure not to go overboard with the scent.
  • Does the backyard offer something extra? If the focal point upon entry is windows to the back yard, what is the buyer seeing? Follow the same guidelines here as with your curb appeal!
  • Remember, buyers buy on emotion. When they walk in, are they going to fall in love with the home? All of the above will factor into their emotional response.
