
One of the fastest growing regions in the Nation, Northwest Arkansas
is surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountains.. If your
interests lie in the natural outdoors, NWA is abundant in clean
lakes, rivers and hiking trails. Sports enthusiasts are always
welcome to join their fellow Arkansans as we "Call the Hogs", the
mascot of the University of Arkansas, with the flagship campus
located in Fayetteville. Scenic drives throughout
the region provide the perfect opportunity to see the area in all
it's glory, as NWA enjoys four true seasons.
Golf enthusiasts will enjoy the area's many courses, ranging from
public, to award-winning designed professional courses.
In 2007, NWA hosted the inaugural LPGA NWA Championship, featuring
the top LPGA professionals in the Country, which will again be
hosted in 2008 and 2009. In April, 2008, the NWA
Naturals, Triple A Minor League will open their inaugural season in
Springdale.
Fishing enthusi
asts will find NWA to be most inviting, whether bass
fishing on Beaver Lake, comprising 30,000 acres, or trout fishing in
any of the many fresh streams and rivers located within and around
the NWA area. With the area's abundant lakes and rivers, NWA
provides the canoeist and kayaker the perfect playground to hone
their skill!
The Ozarks natural beauty affords hiking enthusiasts the opportunity
to get out and play! Hobbs State Park located just east of
Rogers is a nature lover's paradise. Devil's Den State Park
and Lake Wedington, outside of Fayetteville provide the perfect
opportunity for a day hike or bike ride. Bike trails are available
throughout the region, as are greenway and trails systems.
The Jones Center for Families, a multigenerational, social,
educational and recreational facility located in Springdale,
provides the region with an indoor ice skating facility, as well as
indoor pool, computer room, and other recreational opportunities,
all at no cost to families.
The recently opened Adult Wellness Center, operated by the City of
Rogers provides our area seniors the opportunity to stay active in a
beautiful facility, staffed by Wellness professionals. Indoor
lap pool, warm water therapy pool, state-of-the-art exercise
machines, crafts rooms, speakers bureau, are all provided to members
at a very low annual fee.
Opportunities for youngsters to excel at their chosen sport or
activity abound throughout the region. Recreation centers,
skateboard parks, aquatic facilities, splash parks, and sports
facilities, are offered throughout NWA. As our region grows, so
do the programs offered by each City.
